Edward Payson (1783 – 1827) was an American Congregational pastor during the time of the Second Great Awakening in the United States. A graduate of Harvard in 1803, Payson became principal of a school in Portland, Maine. In 1807 he became an associate pastor of the Congregational Church of Portland. Four years later Payson became the church's senior pastor, and remained so until his death on October, 22 1827.
